RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) \u2014 On a day with a forecast of near 100 degrees in central North Carolina, the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for five counties Sunday afternoon.<\/p>

The warning, issued at 4:35 p.m., includes Durham County and parts of Orange, Granville, Wake, and Franklin counties, the weather service said.<\/p>\n

The warning said that a severe thunderstorm was located over Hillsborough, moving east at 35 mph.<\/p>\n

The weather service said that the warning lasts until 5:15 p.m. with 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail possible.<\/p>

\u201cHail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees,\u201d the warning said.<\/p>\n

Cities and areas in the warning area include Durham, Chapel Hill, Hillsborough, Creedmoor, Carrboro, Butner, Youngsville, Stem, Efland, and Lake Michie.<\/p>\n
