RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) \u2014 The Carolina Hurricanes are Stanley Cup champions, and fans will soon have a chance to celebrate with the team in downtown Raleigh.<\/p>

The Hurricanes announced late Sunday night that a Stanley Cup victory parade will be held Saturday, June 20, beginning at 11 a.m.<\/p>\n

The team said the parade will take place in downtown Raleigh, though additional details \u2014 including the route, road closures, parking information and any potential rally plans \u2014 have not yet been announced. Hurricanes officials said more information will be released later this week.<\/p>\n

The celebration comes less than a week after Carolina defeated the Vegas Golden Knights in a 3-0 shutout victory in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final to secure the second championship in franchise history and the organization\u2019s first title since 2006.<\/p>\n

Fans are expected to travel from across North Carolina to take part in the festivities after the Hurricanes completed one of the most dominant postseason runs in franchise history.<\/p>\n

Carolina finished the playoffs with a 16-3 record and closed the Stanley Cup Final by winning three consecutive games against Vegas.<\/p>\n

The Hurricanes relied on their trademark defense throughout the closing stretch of the series, holding the Golden Knights to five total goals in Games 4 and 5 before posting a shutout in the championship-clinching Game 6 victory.<\/p>
