(WNCN) \u2014 A jury scam has returned to Wake County, according to the Office of the North Carolina Attorney General.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/raleighmovingnews.com\/?p=3210\">Student\u2019s Charlie Kirk tribute at Charlotte high school leads to policy changes, $95K settlement<\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to the attorney general\u2019s office, scammers are calling Wake County residents to falsely claim they missed jury duty and may be arrested if they do not immediately pay a fine or send money. The scammers are impersonating law enforcement officers, sometimes using the real names and badge numbers of deputies.<\/p>\n<p>The attorney general\u2019s office said these calls are scams because law enforcement agencies will not call people to demand payment or threaten arrest if they missed jury duty. Legitimate businesses will also not require anyone to pay them in gift cards or cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who receives the call is asked to hang up and call the Wake County Sheriff\u2019s Office directly to determine if the call is legitimate.
