RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) \u2014 Rescue crews have responded Saturday morning to a vehicle crash off an Interstate 540 bridge just northeast of Raleigh, officials said.<\/p>

The crash was reported just after 9:45 a.m. along I-540 eastbound between two bridges spanning the Neuse River along the highway just east of U.S. 401, according to Wake County authorities.<\/p>\n

A vehicle crashed down an embankment between the two I-540 bridges, according to fire officials.<\/p>\n

The left lane is closed on I-540 eastbound past Exit 18, while the left shoulder is closed on I-540 westbound past Exit 20, the North Carolina Department of Transportation said.<\/p>

Rescue crews were focusing efforts on the gap between the two I-540 bridges over the Neuse River, according to NCDOT traffic cameras.<\/p>\n

There was no word about when the scene would be clear or about any injuries.<\/p>\n

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol will be investigating the crash, Wake County officials said.<\/p>
