RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) \u2014 After grabbing their second Stanley Cup in exactly 20 years, the Carolina Hurricanes will return to play in Greensboro for the first time in 27 years for a preseason game this fall, the team announced Thursday.<\/p>\n

The Hurricanes shut out the Las Vegas Golden Knights in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup final earlier this month, followed by a massive downtown Raleigh parade and celebration this past weekend.<\/p>\n

The Hurricanes \u2014 which moved from Hartford, where they were the Whalers \u2014 played their early seasons in Greensboro while awaiting the completion of their arena in Raleigh.<\/p>\n

The preseason in September brings the Hurricanes back to Greensboro for the first time since the 1999 season. The Canes played in Greensboro in the 1997\u201398 and 1998\u201399 seasons.<\/p>\n

The game in Greensboro will take place at First Horizon Coliseum, home of the club\u2019s ECHL affiliate Greensboro Gargoyles, on Thursday, Sept. 24, when Carolina will host the Nashville Predators.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled the Carolina Hurricanes will begin the defense of their Stanley Cup championship with their first appearance in Greensboro in 27 years,\u201d Scott Johnson, general manager for First Horizon Coliseum, said in a news release.<\/p>\n

The game in Greensboro is one of four preseason matches, which also includes a game in Raleigh at the Hurricanes\u2019 home \u2014 the Lenovo Center.<\/p>\n

Carolina\u2019s complete 2026 exhibition schedule, noted in Eastern times, is below:<\/p>\n
