After a brief break from the heat, central North Carolina is heading back into a more typical summer pattern. <\/p>

High temperatures will climb into the low to mid-90s on Friday and continue through the weekend, bringing a return to above-average warmth. <\/p>\n

Humidity will also ramp up as dew points rise into the upper 60s and low 70s, bringing back that familiar sticky summer feel. With the added moisture and daytime heating, isolated to scattered thunderstorms will be possible each afternoon, though rain coverage will remain limited and hit-or-miss.<\/p>\n

Saturday carries the best chance for stronger storms. The atmosphere will be primed for storms capable of producing damaging wind gusts and isolated downbursts, prompting a slight risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe weather across the area. Any storm that develops could also bring heavy downpours, frequent lightning, and gusty winds, all common hazards during the summer months.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, the heat is expected to intensify late next week again, peaking just before or around the Fourth of July. High temperatures could push into the upper 90s and even reach triple digits, with heat index values climbing even higher. <\/p>\n
