DELTONA, Fla. (WFLA) \u2014 A Florida sheriff\u2019s office shared a video of a 12-year-old who was arrested in Deltona this week after he took part in the viral \u201cdoor kicking challenge.\u201d<\/p>

The Volusia Sheriff\u2019s Office posted a video from a Ring doorbell and body camera video of the child\u2019s arrest on Tuesday as a lesson about the dangers associated with this social media trend.<\/p>\n

The Ring doorbell video shows the 12-year-old covering his face with his shirt before kicking the Deltona home\u2019s door and running away.<\/p>\n

Deputies arrested the child and set a court date, saying the incident was a lesson.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hate myself,\u201d the child said to a deputy from a transport vehicle.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t hate yourself,\u201d the deputy said. \u201cYou\u2019ll be all right, buddy. Listen, I promise you. You\u2019ll still be able to become a cop.\u201d<\/p>

The boy can be heard on video asking, \u201cYou promise?\u201d The officer then reassures him: \u201cI promise you that,\u201d adding that \u201cthis is just a minor stepping stone in life.\u201d<\/p>\n

VSO said it continues to see this \u201cdangerous trend,\u201d and detectives are working to identify three people who also participated in Deltona on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cParents, please talk to your kids about how dangerous this is,\u201d VSO said. \u201cAside from a felony charge, it could get your child killed.\u201d<\/p>
