CREEDMOOR, N.C. (WNCN) \u2014 The Creedmoor Police Department transferred its telecommunications and dispatch operations to Granville County 911 on Wednesday, officials said.<\/p>\n

According to City of Creedmoor officials, all emergency calls for Creedmoor police will be answered by the Granville County 911 Communications Center. No action is required from the public.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside the Creedmoor Police Department and support their officers and citizens,\u201d Granville County 911 Director Stacy Hicks said in a statement. \u201cI appreciate Chief Wheless\u2019 trust in our team as we have worked closely together to make sure this transition is seamless for the officers, 911 staff, and the community.\u201d<\/p>\n

The transition was the result of months of planning and collaboration between the city, the county, Creedmoor police, and the county 911 center, according to officials.<\/p>\n

Officials said transferring dispatch services to the county will increase the efficiency of operations, improves public safety agency coordination, and provides access to advanced communication technology and more staffing resources.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis partnership represents an important step forward in ensuring the highest level of emergency communications services for our community,\u201d Creedmoor Police Chief Troy Wheless said in a statement. \u201cBy joining Granville County 911, we are enhancing our ability to serve residents while allowing our officers to remain focused on public safety and community policing.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver the past several months, Director Stacy Hicks, the Granville County 911 staff, and members of our police department have worked tirelessly to ensure that all our operational needs are met,\u201d he continued in his statement. \u201cI am confident this transition will enhance emergency response capabilities for residents, businesses, and visitors.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Granville County 911 Communications Center can be contacted for non-emergencies at 919-690-0444.<\/p>\n

Anyone looking to contact the Creedmoor Police Department for non-emergencies may call 919-528-1515 on Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/p>\n
