RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) \u2014 With all of central North Carolina already under a heat advisory today until 8 p.m., the National Weather Service has already issued another heat advisory for Friday from noon to 8 p.m.<\/p>

The National Weather Service office in Raleigh said that heat index values up to 107 degrees are expected.<\/p>\n

\u201cHot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses,\u201d the heat advisory said.<\/p>\n

Most of North Carolina will have a heat advisory or worse for the holiday weekend, according to CBS 17 Storm Team Chief Meteorologist Wes Hohenstein.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe dangerous temperatures are forecast from the base of the mountains to the North Carolina coast \u2014 with extreme heat possible,\u201d Hohenstein said.<\/p>\n

The Triangle could see the hottest Fourth of July on record on Saturday, Hohenstein added.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeveral days of record highs and triple-digit heat are still possible for the long holiday weekend,\u201d Hohenstein said.<\/p>

The CBS 17 10-day Forecast predicts high temps on Friday at 102 degrees, with 103 degrees on Saturday and on Sunday. The forecast for Monday is 100 degrees.<\/p>\n

An extreme heat watch is in effect for the weekend for northeastern North Carolina, including Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Gates, Hertford, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, and Western Currituck counties.<\/p>\n

In Virginia, just to the north of the Triangle, an extreme heat warning was issued Thursday for Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., the National Weather Service said.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the extreme heat warning, dangerously hot conditions with heat index values 110 or greater (are) expected,\u201d the weather service said.<\/p>\n

Forecasters said some precautions are necessary with the heat.<\/p>\n

\u201cDrink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors,\u201d the weather service said.<\/p>\n

A return through the upper 90s to the lower 90s is on tap next week as the high breaks down and rain chances return. Unfortunately, it won\u2019t be widespread rain, with just hit-or-miss showers and storms on any given afternoon, the CBS 17 Storm Team predicts.<\/p>
