ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. (WNCN) \u2014 Police in Roanoke Rapids are seeking an \u201carmed and dangerous\u201d man in the killing of two teenagers in the Halifax County town last month.<\/p>

Meanwhile, an arrest made earlier this week accuses a man of helping the 18-year-old Roanoke Rapids murder suspect elude nearby police in the June 22 killings.<\/p>\n

Mariah Thompson, 15, and Patrick Shane Faircloth, 19, both of Whiteville in Columbus County, were shot dead early the morning of Monday, June 22, according to the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.<\/p>\n

Eric Lamont Martin Jr., 18, of Whiteville, is facing charges in the Roanoke Rapids deadly shootings and in another killing in Columbus County just 11 days earlier, Roanoke Rapids police said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe should be considered armed and dangerous,\u201d the news release said. \u201cDo not approach, if seen, call 911,\u201d a wanted flyer said.<\/p>\n

Police say Martin escaped the morning of June 22 after officers heard gunfire at the intersection of Vance and 11th West streets, police said.<\/p>\n

A nearby police officer spotted a car fleeing the area and chased the vehicle to the Lincoln Heights area, officers said.<\/p>\n

The driver of the vehicle, Isaiah N. Cooper, 19, of Whiteville, was detained, interviewed, and released that morning.<\/p>\n

But, police have since charged Cooper in the case, accusing him in an arrest warrant of \u201cfleeing from law enforcement from the crime scene with Eric Lamont Martin Jr. in the vehicle.\u201d<\/p>

An arrest warrant also said that Cooper gave officers false information about Martin with \u201cdeceit and intent to defraud.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cooper, who was arrested on Wednesday, is charged with two counts of felony accessory after the fact and one count of felony obstructing justice. He is being held on a $250,000 secured bond in the Halifax County Jail.<\/p>\n

A funeral was held on Wednesday in Whiteville for Thompson, who attended Whiteville High School. A GoFundMe has been set up by a former teacher to help her family and other siblings.<\/p>\n

Faircloth was a 2025 graduate of Whiteville High School. His obituary said his funeral will be private.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe complexity of this investigation has required a substantial number of resources, time, andcoordination,\u201d police said in the news release. \u201cThis investigation is still ongoing, and additional information may be released.\u201d<\/p>\n

Officers said anyone with information about the case or Martin\u2019s location should contact the Roanoke Rapids Police Department at 252-533-2810 or Halifax Central Communications non-emergency at 252-583-1991. <\/p>\n

Roanoke Rapids police said anonymous tips can be made to Halifax County Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.<\/p>
