RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) \u2014 As the nation is celebrating its 250th birthday, some of its newest citizens are celebrating their first days.<\/p>\n

Babies in the neonatal intensive care units at WakeMed Raleigh and UNC Health Rex in Raleigh were decked out in red, white and blue to commemorate the United States of America\u2019s landmark milestone.<\/p>\n

Stars, stripes, top hats and even a mini Statue of Liberty crown adorned some of the hospitals\u2019 smallest patients, bringing smiles to their parents and families and giving them heartwarming memories during what can be a difficult time.<\/p>\n

The newest batch of Fourth of July celebrants carry on a tradition put together by the babies\u2019 nurses and medical teams, who help support families through their NICU journeys.<\/p>\n
