(WGHP) \u2014 Two Triad teenagers made their first appearance in Guilford County court in Greensboro on Monday to face multiple charges after \u201cseveral\u201d people were accused of using what court records described as a \u201cpowerful explosive\u201d to break into Smith High School.<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/raleighmovingnews.com\/?p=5246\">North Carolina budget plan sparks discontent from veteran educators over mixed raises<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Solomon Caravello-Bell, 18, and Chayce Harricharan, 18, were arrested and taken to the Guilford County Jail on the following charges:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>felony breaking and\/or entering<\/li>\n<li>explosives on educational property<\/li>\n<li>possession of a weapon of mass destruction (a homemade plasma cannon)<\/li>\n<li>malicious use of explosives, damaging real property<\/li>\n<li>felony conspiracy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A juvenile was also detained before being released into the custody of a parent. Juvenile petition(s) will be taken out with charges, police say.<\/p>\n<p>Caravello-Bell, of High Point, allegedly used a \u201chomemade plasma cannon\u201d to burn a bush and damage the door of Smith High School in Greensboro before breaking into the building, according to a warrant.<\/p>\n<div>\n<figure>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-medium_large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Solomon Caravello-Bell (Guilford County Jail)\" class=\"wp-image-5248\" height=\"432\" src=\"https:\/\/raleighmovingnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/729a426fc7ef283c026443d66cbe15b2-768x432.webp\" width=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/raleighmovingnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/729a426fc7ef283c026443d66cbe15b2-768x432.webp 768w, https:\/\/raleighmovingnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/729a426fc7ef283c026443d66cbe15b2-300x169.webp 300w, https:\/\/raleighmovingnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/729a426fc7ef283c026443d66cbe15b2.webp 900w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n<figcaption>Solomon Caravello-Bell (Guilford County Jail)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n<p>Court records accuse Caravello-Bell and several others of using the plasma cannon to break into the school, causing a fire in the process. Officers responded to a burglary call just after 2 a.m. Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>According to the prosecution, law enforcement found several water tanks and clear plastic that was used to create a makeshift plasma cannon. Investigators found damage to a door near one of the entrances at the high school, including a hole in the glass.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecution said surveillance cameras captured three suspects inside Smith High School\u2019s media center.<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/raleighmovingnews.com\/?p=5244\">Water restrictions in Cumberland, Moore, Harnett County and more go into effect<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The prosecution told the court that Caravello-Bell ran through the school\u2019s hallways for about 15 minutes before officers arrived.<\/p>\n<p>Caravello-Bell\u2019s attorney asked for his bond to be lowered, saying her client has no criminal history.
