(WNCN) \u2014 The driver of a party bus that is charged with a DWI after crashing into a car, utility pole and into a 100-year-old home in a historic neighborhood near downtown Raleigh early Saturday morning is out on bond.<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/raleighmovingnews.com\/?p=5926\">Arrest made in 25-year-old Selma rape and kidnapping cold case, police say<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI heard this loud ka-bam and said, \u2018 Oh crap, what happened?,&#8217;\u201d a neighbor said.<\/p>\n<p>One neighbor who wished to remain anonymous shared what she heard and saw right before she went to bed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was pretty shocking, and of course the neighbors who were impacted by this were just horrified,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Court documents state the driver of the bus was 58-year-old Garry Kearse III, and that he was under the influence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlease don\u2019t drive drunk for God\u2019s sake,\u201d a neighbor said.<\/p>\n<p>Arrest records indicate other charges and citations against Kearse include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Felony injuring utility wires\/fixture<\/li>\n<li>Injury to real property<\/li>\n<li>Failure to maintain lane control<\/li>\n<li>Possession of an open container of alcohol<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Court documents also state that Kearse was driving with a revoked license after another DWI in April, where his blood alcohol content was a 0.23 \u2014 nearly triple the legal limit.<\/p>\n<p>His license was revoked in early June.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy on earth was he driving the bus?\u201d a neighbor said.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5928\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/raleighmovingnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/794a6c22eb793eaedadfffee5d6c6f53-1024x768.webp\" width=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/raleighmovingnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/794a6c22eb793eaedadfffee5d6c6f53-1024x768.webp 1024w, https:\/\/raleighmovingnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/794a6c22eb793eaedadfffee5d6c6f53-300x225.webp 300w, https:\/\/raleighmovingnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/794a6c22eb793eaedadfffee5d6c6f53-768x576.webp 768w, https:\/\/raleighmovingnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/794a6c22eb793eaedadfffee5d6c6f53.webp 1440w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Kearse appeared in front of a judge Monday, and was granted bail.<\/p>\n<p>He posted a $10,000 bond.<\/p>\n<p>CBS 17 knocked on Kearse\u2019s door Monday evening to learn why he was behind the wheel with a revoked license and under the influence, but nobody answered the door.<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/raleighmovingnews.com\/?p=5922\">Tuesday to kick off big warmup in central NC as heat, humidity surge back<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The owner of a Triangle-based party bus business, Rachel Abbott, spoke to CBS 17 after the DWI arrest.<\/p>\n<p>She said, \u201cIt\u2019s very disappointing for the people who [are] running legitimate businesses, having insurance, having the proper inspections, the proper credentials, and operating professionally.<\/p>\n<p>Her company, \u201cThe Rabbott,\u201d is a separate party bus company with no affiliation to the wreck.<\/p>\n<p>Abbott said a bus driver\u2019s job is to make sure everyone gets to their final destination safely, including themselves.<\/p><section>\n<div>\n<h2>MORE FROM CBS 17<\/h2>\n<section>\n<h2>\n\t\t\n\t\tWAKE COUNTY NEWS\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/h2>\n<div>\n<article>\n<!-- Next line is not the perfect\/ideal way to control hiding the items.
