It won\u2019t just be the temperatures making it feel uncomfortable. Dew points will remain elevated throughout the week, creating humid and muggy conditions each afternoon. When humidity is high, sweat cannot evaporate as efficiently, making it harder for the body to cool itself. Anyone spending extended time outdoors should stay hydrated, take frequent breaks, and limit strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day.<\/p>\n

Relief begins to arrive late Thursday as a slow-moving cold front pushes toward the region. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop Thursday afternoon and evening, bringing the best chance for widespread rain in quite some time.<\/p>\n

The front is forecast to stall nearby, allowing deep moisture to continue streaming in from the southwest. That setup will keep at least scattered rain chances in the forecast into the middle of next week. Right now, Thursday and Friday appear to be the wettest days, while the holiday weekend looks more typical for late May with mainly scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms rather than an all-day washout.<\/p>\n
