A slow-moving cold front is going to have a big impact on our weather over the coming days.<\/p>

Wednesday morning will have a few lingering showers, possibly a few storms, near Virginia before we start tracking the cold front. The front will approach North Carolina by late afternoon, but we likely won\u2019t see widespread thunderstorms until later in the evening.<\/p>\n

As the line of storms moves south late in the evening through the night, expect the storms to produce damaging wind gusts, but a brief, isolated tornado can\u2019t be ruled out.<\/p>\n

In addition to the severe wind, we also expect heavy, possibly flooding rain. Because the front is so slow moving, our heavy rain threat will continue into Thursday morning, with the rain not coming to an end until the afternoon, possibly early evening.<\/p>\n

The good news is that behind that front we will see cooler air for a few days. Highs will be in the 80s and overnight lows will fall into the mid 60s for a few days. The break from the heat will be nice, but next week temperatures return to their typical July levels, in the low 90s.<\/p>\n
