LOUISBURG, N.C. (WNCN) — A $10 scratch-off ticket became a $1 million jackpot for a Franklin County man, lottery officials said.

According to the North Carolina Education Lottery, Kerolos Makram of Louisburg won the top $1 million prize from a LOTERIA MULTIPLIER ticket he bought at Marco’s Mini Mart on N.C. 561 in Louisburg.

Makram visited lottery headquarters in Raleigh on Tuesday, where he was given the choice of receiving his prize as a $50,000 annuity over 20 years or a $600,000 lump sum. He chose the $600,000 lump sum and received $432,063 after the required state and federal tax withholdings, according to NC Lottery.

Lottery officials said LOTERIA MULTIPLIER debuted in March with four $1 million top prizes. As of Thursday, one $1 million prize remains to be claimed.
Makram is the third person in central North Carolina to claim a $1 million jackpot in the past two weeks. Oscar Mendoza of Lee County won $1 million from a Jumbo Bucks ticket and Raymond Johnson of Harnett County won $1 million from Triple Red 777 Jackpot.
