RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The seventh teen — and the fourth in the Brier Creek riot — was charged Wednesday morning in a Raleigh shopping area July Fourth shooting as part of at least two “teen takeovers” that left nine shot and that attracted thousands during the holiday weekend, police said.

The Raleigh Police Department has said 3,000 teens gathered and two adult bystanders were injured in a shooting at the Brier Creek shopping center. Another takeover happened early Sunday morning along Glenwood Avenue in the Glenwood South area of downtown Raleigh.
The Brier Creek incident was initially reported as a fight just after 10:25 p.m. Saturday, July 4, at the Brier Creek Commons shopping center, police said.
After many teens were removed from a store, a large fight erupted outside, according to officers.
Gunshots were fired during that fight and disturbance, according to officers.
“During the chaos, two innocent bystanders, both adults, were injured,” police said. One bystander was hit by gunfire while the other was injured by flying glass when a bullet shattered a window, police said.
The 15-year-old charged Wednesday was taken into custody in Staten Island, New York, on Tuesday by members the United States Marshals Service, police said.

“The juvenile was transferred to a juvenile facility and will wait to be extradited to North Carolina,” Raleigh police said Wednesday.
The 15-year-old was charged with the following, according to police:
- Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflict serious injury (two counts)
- Discharging a firearm into occupied property
- Felony riot
- Possession of a firearm by a minor

- A 15-year-old was arrested in Durham County on July 24 on the same charges with the additional charge of “going armed to the terror of the public,” Raleigh police said.
- A 17-year-old boy was arrested in Durham County on July 17 in the Brier Creek “takeover,” charged with possession of a firearm by a minor, delaying police, and simple drug possession, police said.
- The first arrest on July 8 was Justin Brown, 16, who is facing various charges, including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, felony rioting and firing a gun into an occupied car, police said.
Overall, there appear to have been seven arrests in all nine shootings and the various incidents on July 4 and the next morning.
On July 24, officers announced the arrest of a 17-year-old girl in a shooting at a Capital Boulevard gas station linked to the weekend events.
The remaining cases at 700 Tucker Street and 620 West Lane Street are still actively being investigated by detectives, police said.
