G20 is a group of international finance leaders representing the world’s major and emerging economies. The focus of these meetings in North Carolina is economic growth, global trade and the future of finance.
Ashville hosted G20 meetings for the last several days. Tuesday and Wednesday, they move to Chapel Hill.

The big topic of conversation there is the role of AI in shaping economic growth and global innovation.

G20 signage and decor was visible outside The Carolina Inn. Police officers with K-9s could be seen outside the Carolina Inn, stopping every vehicle and sweeping every guest car and delivery truck.
Chapel Hill police said they were stepping up law enforcement presence and teaming up with UNC, along with regional, state, and federal agencies to ensure a safe event.
People in town should expect heavier traffic over the next few days and more people than usual visiting restaurants and shops.
