Cary homeowners displaced after ‘significant’ fire damage to Strathorn Drive house

CARY, N.C. (WNCN) — Cary home occupants were displaced after their house sustained “significant” fire damage just as storms hit the area Saturday afternoon, officials said.

The fire was reported just before 4 p.m. at a home in the 900 block of Strathorn Drive, according to a town of Cary news release.

When crews arrived, they spotted an “active fire” at the home just south of Highcroft Drive Elementary School.

Firefighters worked for nearly an hour to extinguish the blaze, and crews were still at the scene after 6 p.m.

There were no injuries in the fire, which broke out when the house was unoccupied, the news release said.

“The damage to the home was substantial,” Cary officials said.

An investigation is underway into the cause of the fire, the release said.
