DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A man is dead following a shooting in downtown Durham early Friday morning, police said.

According to the Durham Police Department, officers responded just before 2 a.m. to a report of a gunshot wound in the 700 block of Rigsbee Avenue.
When officers arrived, according to Durham police, they found a man who had been shot.

Police said the man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing and no arrests have been announced as of Friday morning.
