The next meaningful chance for rain arrives Monday as a cold front slowly moves into the area. Forecast models continue to show some uncertainty regarding how much moisture will interact with the front, but scattered showers appear possible late Monday into Monday night before clearing out by Tuesday.

Additional rain chances could develop again on Wednesday and into Thursday as another system approaches. At the same time, temperatures are expected to surge well above average later next week.

After a brief cooldown Monday and Tuesday, highs could push into the upper 80s and even near 90 degrees by the end of the week, bringing an early taste of summer back to central North Carolina.
