RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A woman is in police custody, according to court records, after officers responded to an assault Monday morning in Raleigh.

A spokesperson with the Raleigh Police Department confirmed with CBS 17 that an assault took place around 6:10 a.m. on 214 South Blount Street.
The spokesperson said a person sustained multiple cuts in an assault at the Moore Square bus station. CBS 17 was at the scene where a heavy police presence was at the GoRaleigh downtown depot.

According to court records, a woman was charged in connection to the assault. Court records said Raleigh police charged Egypt Elizabeth Burkes with assault with a deadly weapon and simple assault.
Burkes remains in custody at the Wake County Detention Center with no authorized bond. According to court records, she is scheduled in court Tuesday afternoon.
