More rain, humidity until Friday cold front in central NC

The holiday weekend rain will continue Tuesday as we head back to work and school, but another cold front is lining up for the end of the week.

Some much needed, although ill-timed rain on Memorial Day should bring some improvements to the drought index later this week, but we’re not done with the rain yet. Scattered showers on and off through the day will continue Tuesday in central North Carolina with muggy highs in the mid to lower 80s.

The pattern begins to change on Wednesday and Thursday with only a few isolated showers. But it will also start to warm up again with highs in the middle 80s.

Then it turns cooler and dry behind a front to end the week on Friday. Highs will only reach the lower 80s ahead of 70s this weekend through early next week. Overnight lows will return to the 50s as humidity also drops Friday after the cold front.

We’re still expecting as much as an inch or more of rain through Thursday. But June looks to start cooler and drier early next week.
