CLEMSON, S.C. (WSPA) — Clemson University announced Wednesday that Kevin Guskiewicz will take over as the next president of the school.

The university’s Board of Trustees voted to approve Guskiewicz’s hiring during a meeting Wednesday morning.
Guskiewicz will be the 16th president of Clemson University.
The university approved a for $1.216 million plus other performance incentives.
James Clements, the previous president, retired from the position at the end of 2025.

Since then, Provost Bob Jones has been leading the school as interim president. Jones had also been set to retire at the end of 2025 but agreed to serve as interim president until a successor was named.
Guskiewicz has been president of Michigan State University since March 2024.
Prior to his time at Michigan State, Guskiewicz served as chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2019 to 2024.
