2 injured after vehicle crashes into utility pole in Raleigh, causing power outage

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Two people were injured after a vehicle crashed into a power pole in Raleigh’s Five Points neighborhood early Monday morning, knocking out electricity to hundreds of customers.

According to the Raleigh Police Department, officers responded to a single-vehicle crash along Glenwood Avenue. When they arrived, they found a car that had struck a utility pole.

Two people inside the vehicle were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their conditions were not immediately available.

The crash caused a power outage affecting nearly 150 Duke Energy customers near the scene as of 5 a.m. Monday, according to the utility’s outage map.

Glenwood Avenue is expected to remain closed for several hours while crews work to repair the damaged pole and restore power to the area.
