Person and dog hit by train in Cumberland County, NCSHP says

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A person and a dog are dead after being hit by a train in Cumberland County, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said.

According to NCSHP, the troopers responded to a call about a person being hit by a train along Cumberland Road near the bridge around 3 a.m. Saturday.

When troopers arrived, they found that a person and a dog had been hit by a CSX train, and both had died. The identity of the person who died has not been released.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office has taken over the investigation. CBS 17 has reached out to the sheriff’s office for more information.
