RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — While the humidity is increasing, the big weather story will be hot temperatures most of the week.

Highs will climb into the mid-90s multiple days, with some locations approaching 100 degrees. Combined with that increasing humidity, heat index values could push into the triple digits by the second half of the week.
High pressure remains firmly in control across the Southeast, allowing very warm air to expand across the Carolinas while keeping higher humidity close to the ground, not only keeping us uncomfortable, but fueling only scattered chances for rain in a very summer-like pattern.
This means that we’re entering another week without a drought-busting chance for rain. However, our weather pattern seems to be becoming more active, which would bring some much-needed rain, but unfortunately not for everyone. These storms will naturally be hit-or-miss, meaning some communities could receive beneficial downpours while others remain dry.
For now, prepare for several days of intense heat where highs will generally range from the low to upper 90s through the week. The hottest days are Thursday and Friday, with highs reaching the upper 90s and humidity high enough that it will feel like the triple digits.
