New NC Division of Motor Vehicles wait time data shows decline after brief uptick in March

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — After a brief uptick in March, new data from the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles shows wait times continue to decline.

The data shows the average wait by location was nearly 23 minutes in May, down from over 46 minutes in March, and just over 29 minutes in April.

The average by customer in May was over 23 minutes — down from about 48 minutes in March and over 29 minutes in April.

Looking at popular locations in the Triangle, the Cary location averaged more than 23 minutes in May, compared to over 43 minutes in March.

The Durham East location saw an average of more than 45 minutes in May, up slightly from nearly 39 minutes in April, but it’s a slight decrease from March’s wait of more than 48 minutes.

Durham South averaged about 19 minutes in May, down from more than 52 minutes in March.

At the Raleigh East location, a slight increase in wait time in May, averaging more than 42 minutes. That’s up from more than 35 in March.

Raleigh North’s May average, over 11 minutes, is down from more than 21 in March. Meanwhile at Raleigh West, the wait time was just over 14 minutes in May — down from over 40 minutes in March.
