Where to find free summer meals for kids in Cumberland County

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Cumberland County students may be out of school for the summer, but free meals are still available for children across the county.

Cumberland County Schools’ Child Nutrition Services is providing free meals to children and teens 18 and younger through July 31 at numerous sites.

The program is open to all children, with no registration or income requirements. Meals are available on a first-come, first-served basis Monday through Friday.

Children must be present to receive a meal, and meals must be eaten on-site. Adults may purchase a meal for $5.

Meal service locations include schools, recreation centers, parks and libraries across Fayetteville, Hope Mills and Spring Lake. Participating sites include:

  • Cliffdale Recreation Center
  • College Lakes Elementary School
  • Hope Mills Municipal Park
  • Kiwanis Recreation Center
  • Lake Rim Elementary School
  • Massey Hill Recreation Center
  • Mendoza Park
  • Roy Turner Park
  • Smith Recreation Center
  • Spring Lake Library
  • Spring Lake Recreation Center
  • Sunnyside Elementary School
  • Walker-Spivey School
  • Westover Recreation Center

Service times vary by location.

At several recreation centers and parks, children can participate in activities such as playground time, sports, splash pads, swimming and other recreational programs while meals are being served.
