Gwendolyn White is charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder in a shooting on May 22 that injured attorneys Mary Harris and Jeffrey Whitley near the Wake County Courthouse in the 300 block of Fayetteville Street. Both victims are expected to recover.

The incident happened after a court hearing that day involving a lawsuit White filed against the Town of Rolesville. Following the hearing, White allegedly took a gun out of her car and shot Harris and Whitley, who were representing the town.

White has been held at the Wake County Detention Center without bond since her arrest that day.

On Monday, White made a brief return to Wake County court for a disposition hearing. During the hearing, her defense said they were attempting to move her to a mental health facility, citing medical concerns.

The defense’s effort to move White to a mental health facility comes after her first hearing on May 26, during which a motion was filed to determine her capacity to proceed in court.

The motion notes that White stated the Rolesville Police Department demanded her to provide them with the schematics of the Pentagon and she has faced threats on her life from police and neighbors after she refused. White has also stated she and her mother were poisoned, leading to her mother’s death.

In the motion, Wake County District Court Judge Rashad A. Hauter ordered on May 26 for White to be committed to Central Regional Hospital in Butner for 60 days to determine her capacity to proceed. But as of Monday, according to records, White remains in custody in Wake County without bond.

No action was taken during Monday’s hearing. White’s next court appearance is scheduled for July 29, according to records.
