“It’s just awesome for North Carolina to bring something home like this,” said Preston Jackson of Charlotte. “We don’t get stuff like this very often in the sports world. It’s a lot of fun.”

According to David Greig, he and his friends drove two hours from Charlotte to catch game six at the Lenovo Center watch party. Now, he is one of hundreds of fans who waited early in line to get his hands on Hurricanes Stanley Cup gear.

Greig said this championship win goes beyond just Raleigh and North Carolina.

“Everyone, even in South Carolina this year supports the Hurricanes,” he said. It’s kind of spread all over North Carolina and even Charlotte, having the Hornets and the Panthers, I mean, everyone loves the ‘Canes there. Everyone truly cares.”
