RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The Triangle community plans to come together for a Juneteenth event on Friday, honoring the life of Andrew Davis, who tragically died after an encounter with law enforcement in Fort Myers, Florida, last summer.

The Celebration of Life and Awareness Event, hosted by Sofar Sounds RDU, on Friday evening aims to raise awareness of Andrew’s story and his family’s ongoing quest for justice.
“This right here, it has to stop. Someone has to be held accountable. It starts at the top, and it goes down,” said Andrew Davis’ mother, Typa Bush.

“I want people to come and celebrate Juneteenth and celebrate the life of Andrew Davis and just celebrate life as a whole. I want people to come together in unity and not division,” said event organizer Isaiah “Prophet” Howard.
Doors for the event open at 6 p.m., with the program starting at 7 p.m.at The Wright Village in Raleigh.
