The weekend will be rain-free and warm after much-needed rain fell across central North Carolina late Thursday and then all morning Friday. Some areas received inches of measurable rain, hopefully putting a small dent in the drought of the week.

The rain was due to the tropical moisture left over from Tropical Storm Arthur, paired with a cold front, and behind it, the humidity will be lower and more comfortable on Saturday.
The first half of the day will be very comfortable, but temperatures will climb quickly during the afternoon with highs reaching the upper 80s.
Sunday will be a hot day with highs reaching the mid-90s and the humidity will also increase, making it feel just a bit more muggy by the end of the day. We’ll stay hot in the mid-90s on Monday ahead of another cold front, which will bring a few storms late in the day.
The cold front won’t actually slide through central North Carolina until early Tuesday morning, so expect storms the first part of Tuesday, but then the front stalls out just off the coast. This will keep temperatures in the low 90s and keep scattered storms in the forecast every day next week.

OVERNIGHT will be partly cloudy. The low will be 65. Winds will be 5 miles per hour out of the northwest.

SATURDAY will be mostly sunny. The high will be 89. Winds will be 5 miles per hour out of the west.
SUNDAY will be partly cloudy. The high will be 94. Winds will be 5 to 10 miles per hour out of the southwest.
