RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A woman was injured when she was hit by a car in downtown Raleigh Saturday morning as crowds began arriving ahead of the planned parade to celebrate the Carolina Hurricanes’ Stanley Cup win.

The incident happened just before 8 a.m. in the 200 block of S. Blount Street, according to the Raleigh Police Department.
A woman crossing Blount Street was hit by a driver beside Moore Square just south of E. Hargett Street, police said.
The woman suffered minor injuries, and EMS crews were evaluating if she required a trip to a nearby hospital, according to officers.
The driver of the car involved remained at the scene. Police said no lanes were blocked along S. Blount Street.

Many fans were already gathered in downtown Raleigh by 8:30 a.m. with crowds outside the Sheraton on S. Salisbury Street, where a rally is planned.
Thousands of fans are expected to pack downtown Raleigh on Saturday for the Hurricanes’ 2026 championship celebration, which kicks off with a parade starting at 11 a.m.

The daylong event also includes a fan rally, food trucks, entertainment, along with appearances by players, coaches and special guests.
