DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Traffic has resumed following an early morning crash on a major interstate in the Durham area Friday.

Emergency crews responded around 5:10 a.m. to a crash on Interstate 40 West near mile marker 278 at the NC Highway 55 interchange.
Video from the scene captured by CBS 17 showed multiple emergency vehicles and traffic backed up for several miles.

Officials have not said how many vehicles were involved or whether anyone was injured.
According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, all westbound lanes of I-40 were closed for just over an hour before the roadway fully reopened.
