Campbell said she shares hilarious, raw stories from her remarkable five-decade career, spanning from the set of “Martin” to her new chapter of self-rebirth and freedom.

“Comedy is a healer, and I just started doing this about two years ago,” she said. “It has been great because I can interact with people. There’s no script or screen between people and me now.”

Campbell’s memoir, “The A Word: A Mother’s Journey Through Autism and Love,” hits shelves on Sept. 15.
The book is a deeply personal, self-written account of raising her son, Xen, following his autism diagnosis at 18 months old.
