Man shot during Durham family disturbance spurs relative’s arrest, police say

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Police arrested a relative after a man was shot during a Durham family disturbance on Sunday morning.

The shooting was reported just before 6 a.m. in the 700 block of Brighton Road, in the Hope Valley neighborhood off Hope Valley Road, according to a Durham Police Department news release.

Officers said that a family inside a home was involved in a commotion, which became a disturbance. During the pandemonium among the various family members, a man was injured during a shooting, police said.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The shooting injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, according to officers.

Police said a suspect, a man related to the victim, was arrested following the shooting.
