Heat will build in this weekend, with one day even flirting with a high temperature record! High pressure has arrived in central North Carolina, keeping our skies sunny and temperatures seasonal, but a stronger ridge of high pressure will continue to build in by Sunday.

The stronger ridge of high pressure will stick around through early next week with highs climbing into the low 90s! Sunday’s high of 91 will be just one degree off a record for the day (92 degrees set back in 1947). The highs will stay in the low 90s through Wednesday.
Other than the heat, this weekend will be a great one to get outside! While we desperately need more rain, the lack of rain will play along nicely with any outdoor plans both Saturday and Sunday.

There is rain in the forecast, however! After our taste of summer to start the week, a cold front arrives during the day on Thursday. This will bring a chance for rain as early as Wednesday, with the best chance on Thursday.
The front will bring rain and also slightly cooler temperatures by Memorial Day Weekend. Next weekend right now is pleasant with highs in the middle 80s and a low chance for rain, but long-term forecast solutions are currently split on rain chances.
