RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A state budget deal is imminent, according to a top Republican lawmaker.

In an X post on Monday, House Majority Leader Brenden Jones (R-Columbus) said lawmakers are finalizing a budget agreement and expect to vote on it this week. He said the exact timing of those votes will be announced later.
According to Jones, the new budget will include 13% pay raise for law enforcement, 8% pay raise for teachers, a $1,750 bonus for all state employees earning under $75,000 annually, and more than $3 billion saved in reserves.

Jones’ announcement comes a day before the end of the 2025-26 fiscal year on Tuesday, June 30, which is the deadline for a new budget.
It has been more than 1,000 days since a comprehensive budget was last approved in North Carolina. State lawmakers did not finalize a budget in 2025.
