RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Two adult bystanders were injured “during the chaos” of gunfire among teenagers in northwest Raleigh on Saturday night, police said.

The incident was reported as a fight just after 10:25 p.m. in the Brier Creek area, near the Regal Brier Creek Movie theater and Target within the Brier Creek Commons shopping center, according to a Raleigh Police Department news release.
Just as police arrived for the fight call, officers heard gunshots, the release said.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident involved teenagers,” police said. “During the chaos, two innocent bystanders, both adults, were injured.”
One bystander was hit by gunfire while the other was injured by flying glass when a bullet shattered a window, police said.

“Fortunately, both individuals are expected to recover,” officers said.

Police said they detained one juvenile.
However, officers said they believe “there are additional suspects involved.”
