RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The National Weather Service in Raleigh issued a severe thunderstorm warning Tuesday afternoon for sections of central North Carolina, including Durham and Orange counties.

According to the NWS, the severe thunderstorm warning was issued at 2:13 p.m. for northwestern Durham County, northeastern Orange County, all of Person County, and northwestern Granville County.
The NWS said the impacted areas include:
- Rougemont, Lake Michie, and Bahama in Durham County
- Schley in Orange County
- Roxboro, Mayo Reservoir, Bethel Hill, and Bushy Fork in Person County
- Butner in Granville County
- Concord in Caswell County
Hazards include 60 m.p.h. wind gusts and penny-sized hail that are expected to damage roofs, siding, and trees, according to the NWS.
