Tisha Temple reflects on her positive upbringing in Vance County, where she participated in various activities. “I played piano, played trumpet, was on the student council, cheered, made great grades, and had wonderful friends,” said Temple.

However, everything changed when she attended a bachelorette party at the age of 26, where she was introduced to drugs and cigarettes. “Within six months, I had completely abandoned my children, walked away from my home, and was living on the cold, lonely streets,” she shared.

Tisha spent a decade battling drug addiction and faced numerous challenges during that time, including multiple stints in prison, until July 2014. “That was the last time I used substances. I have been living in long-term recovery since then,” she said.

After years of hard work rebuilding her life and her relationships with her family, Tisha is now the CEO of Recovery Alive Homes in Johnston County. Her faith-based facility offers support and accountability for those fighting addiction.
