Suspect caught after Raleigh carjacking at Walmart off Wake Forest Road

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A person was carjacked by an armed man outside a Raleigh Walmart early Sunday afternoon, police said.

The incident was reported just after 12:35 p.m. at the Walmart at 1725 New Hope Church Road, near Wake Forest Road, according to the Raleigh Police Department.

A male who was with the targeted vehicle, an SUV, was approached by an armed man who implied he had a knife, police said.

The suspect then took control of the blue Honda Pilot and fled the Walmart parking lot, according to officers. No one was injured during the carjacking.

Less than an hour later, police said they had the suspect in custody, and the Honda was recovered.

Officers did not say where or how they tracked down the carjacker.

The incident is still under investigation.
