Bystander hospitalized after shooting at Moore Square bus station in Raleigh, police say

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A man was seriously injured after a shooting downtown near a GoRaleigh bus station early Monday morning, police said.

According to the Raleigh Police Department, officers responded around 2:02 a.m. to the Moore Square bus station on South Blount Street.

According to investigators, a suspect confronted a group of juveniles before firing a gun, striking a bystander who was not involved in the confrontation.

Police said the suspect fled the scene but later returned, where officers detained him and found him in possession of a firearm.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, according to police.

The suspect is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, carrying a concealed weapon and discharging a firearm within city limits, police said.
