A return of near-record-breaking heat and humidity in central North Carolina is on the way. It starts Wednesday and kicks into high gear to end the week and begin the weekend.

Wednesday will feature lots of sunshine with highs in the middle 90s. Thursday and Friday call for upper 90s, with a run at 100 degrees being possible. If the thermometer doesn’t hit the century mark, the feels-like values will from Thursday into the weekend.

Rain chances stay away until Saturday and Sunday, with the second half of the weekend looking slightly wetter than the first. Neither day will be a washout.

Highs slowly cool back into the lower 90s early next week. Daily rain scattered shower and storm chances also return.
