RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The start of fall feels a long way off given we’re less than a month into official summer and temperatures will be soaring again through the weekend.

But we just dropped below 10 weeks until the official kickoff of autumn, now sitting at 69 days away.
Between now and the kickoff on Sept. 22, Raleigh’s average high drops from 90 degrees to 81, with our average low also dropping 9 degrees, from 70 to 61.
The most noticeable factor will be the decrease in daylight, which currently stands at 14 hours and 22 minutes but will be 12 hours and nine minutes when fall begins.
So far this summer, Raleigh has notched three days with a high of 100 degrees or more. We’ve picked up more than seven inches of rain at the airport, more than all of the spring season.

Even as we approach the “cooler months”, Raleigh has still topped 100 degrees as late as early October.
But fall will be nowhere in sight until this weekend as high pressure builds and temperatures near 100 degrees again.
For fall-loves like me, we’re already dreaming of the cooler months that will be here before we know it.
