RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Along with a risk of severe storms Sunday afternoon and evening, central North Carolina is also coping with another heat advisory day, forecasters say.

After a similar advisory Saturday, another heat advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service office in Raleigh.
Officials said heat index values up to 107 are expected in much of central North Carolina.
The only exception to the heat advisory is Person and Halifax counties.
“Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses,” the weather service said in the heat advisory.
A map from the National Weather Service showed the highest heat index areas are forecast for Lillington at 109 degrees and along the eastern counties, all at 107 degrees.

The weather service has Fayetteville and Raleigh forecast at 106 for heat index temps.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay out of direct sun, limit outdoor exertion, check on relatives and neighbors, and never leave people or pets in a closed car,” the advisory said.
Meanwhile, the heat could be lowered with possible thunderstorms.
There is a risk for severe storms in central North Carolina from 4 p.m. Sunday into the early morning on Monday, the weather service said.
