Those were at the top of the checklist Saturday for most fans headed to the second night of The R&B Tour featuring Chris Brown and Usher at Bank of America Stadium.
Fans say they weren’t taking any chances missing the concert because of the heat.
“Definitely making sure I spray all my sunscreen, keeping myself hydrated so I can withstand this because it is very hot,” said Kirsten Darby. She drove from Greensboro to enjoy the hits.
Temperatures in the Queen City reached the mid-90s Saturday, but meteorologists say it felt like it was over 100 degrees, causing fans to prepare a little differently as they waited to get through the gates.
“I’ve been drinking water all day. I went to Walmart and got me some Powerades for before and after,” Darby said.
Medic officials say they treated 40 concertgoers on Friday for heat-related injuries — the most they’ve ever had for a single event.

Paramedics reported people suffering from being lightheaded, nauseous, and eventually passing out.
Operations supervisor Kenny Phillips says they were treated on the medic bus; others were sent to area hospitals for further treatment.
“We plan for these events weeks in advance, so we make sure that we have plenty of staff on board,” Phillips said. “We also know the atrium who takes care of the medical care inside actually brought their staff in earlier today so we can work in conjunction with each other.”
Medic said they responded to 30 heat-related calls around Bank of America Stadium for the second show on Sunday.
Fans say they decided to come closer to the show’s start time — and start hydrating sooner. But if they didn’t, street vendors had them covered while they stood in these long lines.
“The good thing is we can bring two bottles of water,” said Sylvia Fincher. “So we made sure that we had that. And that’s the best preparation.”
