While not as hot and humid as last week, very warm, humid weather with a nearby boundary will create rain and storm risks every afternoon. Tuesday will be a little warmer than Monday, with highs reaching the lower 90s, but expect yet another round of scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Tuesday’s storms will be more isolated and tied to the heat and humidity of the day, but they could still produce gusty winds.

A cold front moves through Wednesday, bringing the best chance of widespread showers and thunderstorms during the middle of the week. Some storms could become severe, with damaging straight-line winds remaining the primary concern. Locally heavy rainfall capable of producing flash flooding is also possible.
After the front clears central North Carolina, noticeably drier air will filter into the region starting Thursday. Temperatures will fall into the low and mid-80s through Saturday, with mornings starting in the 60s. The cooler weather won’t last forever (it’s still July after all), and temperatures will gradually rebound into the upper 80s this weekend and the lower 90s early next week.
FORECAST
OVERNIGHT will be mostly cloudy with lingering showers and storms. The low will be 72. Winds will be out of the south at 5 to 10 miles per hour.
TUESDAY will be partly cloudy with isolated gusty showers and storms. The high will be 92. Winds will be out of the southwest at 10 to 15 miles per hour.

WEDNESDAY will be mostly cloudy with scattered, gusty storms. The high will be 89. Winds will be out of the southwest at 10 to 16 miles per hour.
