DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A woman died after an early morning shooting on Monday at a Durham apartment complex, police said.

According to the Durham Police Department, officers responded around 1:53 a.m. to a reported shooting in the 2800 block of Rochelle Street at Rochelle Manor Apartments.
When officers arrived, they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. She was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she was later pronounced dead.
Police said the investigation remains active and no additional details have been released.

Monday’s deadly shooting comes amid a recent stretch of gun violence in Durham, marking the fifth person shot in the city since Friday afternoon.

On Sunday night, a man suffered life-threatening injuries after police said he was found shot inside a vehicle near the intersection of Anderson Street and Chapel Hill Road.
Durham police also responded to multiple other shootings over the weekend, including a drive-by shooting on Friday on Merrick Street, a shooting Friday night at Amber Oaks Apartments on Century Oaks Drive, and another shooting Saturday night on Hoover Road that injured a woman and a man.
